Description

i think its a great book i like the illustrations and i like the theme, its funny and cute and every parent will relate to a day of lots of shouting! Rebecca's work is inspired by her own childhood and her children's lives, with stories often starting as games or something made up in the back of a car to amuse a child. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. But Mum gives her a kiss and a cuddle, and reads Bella her favourite bedtime story anyway and at last Bella says 'sorry' for her big shouting day.

It has become iconic for us, and so helpful for helping toddlers/pre-schoolers and those that encounter them, understand that we all have ‘big shouting days’ sometimes, and that’s ok. Funny and well-observed, with big bold illustrations and telling facial expressions, My Big Shouting Day is ideal for classroom use.Once her own children had started school, Rebecca began an MA in Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art and had her first picture books commissioned at the end of the course.

Bought for a shouty 3 year old, who laughed as he realised that is exactly what he was like, so we turned a shouty day into a laughing day instead. But it isn't until the last page that Bella's mother makes any attempt to help her work through her feelings, while at the same time being implausibly patient. But by the end of the day, when she's all tired out from being shouty, Bella knows there's one magic word and one magic mummy to make things better again. Other than that it’s just a brilliant story, with an opportunity to use different volumes of your own! Great for teaching little ones that if they're having a tricky day, it will pass, and mummy will be there for them for a cuddle when they're ready.

The message seems to be that we all have our off days, but that's OK, because tomorrow it will all be better. I work part time in a local primary school as a Teaching Assistant where I whisper stuff like 'I never had to know about fronted adverbials' to small children. Some of the best children's literature has been written about characters who are less than perfectly behaved.

My children don't empathise with Bella not because they haven't had tantrums – believe me, they have – but because it's all just a little too realistic, without any humour thrown in for good measure. This hilarious rhyming book by Kes Gray and illustrated by Garry Parsons is a brilliantly silly one to share, especially at bedtime in the run up to Christmas. Bella is having one of those days - her biscuit is broken, she has a hurting foot and ballet is TOOOO itchy for words.

One day a strange parcel arrives at Bella and George's door containing a lovely human baby named Zagazoo. Displaying the full force of toddler hormones, she refuses to eat her breakfast egg, throws off her shoes, yells in the supermarket, and lies down in the pavement, refusing to move. She was engrossed in the story and there were lots of opportunities to further discussion and relate to her own experiences. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. I bought this for my 17 month old Daughter but to be honest i think its a bit old for her yet so she will probably enjoy it when she is more like 3. The trouble with Bella, the main character in My Big Shouting Day is that she is, as Jess and Thomas say, just too shouty. My daughters love it - little do they know that they can be equally as ridiculous, unreasonable and shouty on occasion! This book is so brilliantly observed that it should be compulsory reading for all mothers who think they might have stopped seeing the funny side of an impossibly opinionated toddler .
